What is the best way to extend the connections from switches to the controller and power pack?  I need more distance than the included wires allow.

You can buy an extended connector wire harness from Bachmann for about $10, or you can get a short barrier strip or two from Radio Shack and add wires to extend the run, or cut your three-wire harness and splice in three more wires to lengthen them.  You can splice them using small solderless connectors, or, better, strip and solder the wire ends.

Be careful that you don't switch the wires around.  The center wire is common, the outer wires determine which way the switch throws.

I was able to find these extenders online (eBay) for less than $4.00 each .... Worked great and was a time saver as these wires are so very thin ..
