Recently bought this loco and found a small plastic bag with what appears to be a circuit board. I'm new to DCC and have no idea what it's used for? Come on Bachman include some sort of instructions with your product so guys like me aren't confused!

that should be a dummy plug. if you want to run the locomotive on dc, you unplug the decoder and insert the dummy plug.

while the locomotive will run on dc with the decoder plugged in, the decoder causes it to need about half throttle to start moving. using the dummy plug instead gives you full dc control of the locomotive.

if you are running dcc you don't need the dummy plug, but it's good to keep it in case you eve3r need it.

Thanks Jeffrey!
Why can't Bachman include a note explaining it?
