Smoker on 3 truck Shay works while stationary, but drops off on speed?

I have the 3 truck shay with factory sound.  I noticed that it smokes when it is sitting still.  I am running it on the dcc (AC Power).  When the train starts to move the smoke production slows down.  Is this normal?

I read your post a while back and my first thought was your power supply may be borderline on the low side. Under the the additional load, power may be insufficient for your smoker to function fully.

Yup.

Priority power goes to making the loco move, not ancilliaries like smoke units.

Get a 10A or more anything - bigger really IS better...
