Yardmaster,
Bachmann Service Dept gave you a length of 24" for BAC00002-B per your locked reply http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/board/index.php/topic,29600.msg217523.html#msg217523

Length of 26" has just been added to Parts estore  for BAC00002-B

Verify length and AWG info and advise.

an aside ... This kind of stuff is best handled by e-mail.  ;)

Hunt,

I suspect that is a "nominal" length.

I physically measured 6 of the spade-lug to flat connector power wires I've collected over the years, and they range from 22" to 28" long from the tip of the spade lug to the far end of the black connector.

I checked the wire gauge on 4 others I cut the spades off of for one reason or another, using a Starrett 281 American Standard Wire Gage, and 2 came out 24 gauge, and two came out smaller than 25 gauge, but larger than 26 gauge. So maybe a metric size.

For what it's worth.

If at first you don't succeed, throw it in the spare parts box.

Exact length varies. Contact the Parts/Service department for more information.

Hunt,

What Yardmaster said.

Speaking as an Electronics Engineer, even with the slight length variations, for all practical purposes the red power leads (without an extension) are fine up to 5 amps. Going beyond that, up to 7 or 8 amps, may work. But it would be taking a chance, and not something I would do.

Personally, I prefer 20 gauge feeders running to a 14 gauge bus.
