It's a Bachmann 61241 - NS #6551. I appreciate your advice on the subject.
Thank you, Fernando

I believe the one you have is the older version. I have the DCC version which pretty much the shell removal is close to the same way.

DCC version pop of the fuel tank and by each truck there are tabs. I use toothpicks to help hod the shell apart as I spread the shell from the chassis. You don't have to remove the couplers but I do as not to damage them.

DC version is in this link. At the bottom of the page it is noted how to release the shell which appears to be the same method.

The site you refer to (spookshow.net) is exclusively N scale.
Is the HO model shell removed in the same manor?
On the N version, the fuel tank is not a separate part but rather molded to the bottom of the sill/walkway.
Bachmann has yet to ruin this model (N version) with DCC and sound included.

Looking at the diagram page, I see what look like two tiny protrusions on each side of the frame that stick into small holes on the shell. Slide toothpicks between the frame and shell.
Look at the same spots on the shell.
Take a little time to look through the Parts page for the GP50. They really stand out.
Some seem to miss the diagram pages and parts pages where many details stand out.
