Have a GP-40 powered unit diesel, would like to use it as a non powered dummy unit behind a new powered unit, is there a way?

Thank you

Yes, pull the motor and the two couplings but you will have to over come the resistance of the gear train.
You could pull the gears that are not used. Seems like a waste of a loco.
I am assuming this one has a can motor and not a pancake motor.

Yes Rich, can motor, but I've decided to use it as equipped, like you said, seems like a waste of a loco, just glad to know you can if you want to, thanks!

really, all you'd have to do is pull the worm gears amd disconnect the motor wiring.

Pull the motor because of the weight, not much and remove the couplings. Not sure how much you can remove in gears.
