Hey guys I bought an older bachmann spectrum k4 and I want to completely service it because I don't know it's history or if it's ever been serviced. After running it for about 15 minutes I put my nose up to the loco and could slightly smell burning. I tried looking at the exploded diagram but I can't really make sense of it to see what I have to unscrew to take the shell off and expose the motor. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Serviced meaning lubricating the motor bearings, worm gear, valve gear, and looking for wear like bad brushes or anything that could cause the burning smell.

I think it's the screw underneath the trailing wheels when looking from the bottom of the locomotive by looking at it in person. Any confirmation?

Check for a screw down the stack also. Many steamers have been built like that.

Usually two under the cab and one down the stack. Your model may vary.

I just checked the locomotive itself. There's no screw in the stack. I think I'm gonna end up taking it to my local hobby shop. I also emailed bachmann directly. Thanks for the suggestion though I appreciate it a lot
