Thank you all for your replies so far.  I did have a question, though, as to whether the Bachmann 0-6-0 USRA PRR #3233 DC locomotive I purchased could be classified as "DCC Ready."  The reason I ask is that I reached out to my local hobby shop regarding installation of DCC decoders, and the representative who answered said that they would only be able to do so for DCC ready locomotives, as the gentleman who used to do hardwire DCC decoder installs at the shop passed away. If the engine is not DCC ready, I may have to either reach out to my model railroad club to see if anyone could do a hardwire DCC decoder install or go ahead and purchase another switcher that is DCC ready.

If the box does not say DCC ready than it is not ready. It has to be hard wired.

This might be the loco. Not DCC ready.

A 0-6-0T is DCC ready. I have one. Remove to metal clips form a terminal strip in the loco and solder seven wires to the terminals using a DZ125 decoder.
Not a pricey loco.

Edit. My bad. That was a Mantua 0-6-0T
