Terry, That is the first I have heard of in over the two decades I have been involved with DCC.  You sure you are not getting absent minded (having senior moments)?

Jeff - It's cool. I guess most people do permanent layouts and are content to keep the same layout.
When I was wee lad of 8 and got my first Lionel train for Christmas, I couldn't wait for my parents to buy me more track so I could keep trying different track arrangements on the floor. I haven't changed. It's just now I have it on a board instead of the floor.
