DCC/DC only runs one direction in DC

I have an Alco 2-6-0 that runs fine on DCC but when I try running it on a DC layout, it only travels in left to right direction.  The DC layout is powered by a Tech 4 Rail Power 350.  Suggestions for getting it to run in either direction?

If you put it on the track facing the other way, which way does it run?

the locomotive runs  backwards regardless of which way it is facing.

That sounds like a decoder problem. Have you tried a factory default reset? Usually, that is setting CV8 to 8 but if you have the instruction sheet that came with the locomotive check that to make sure.
