A gentleman on LSC offered a link to the pge he made up of PHOTOS of all the chassis, by model number!

I think this belongs with the 4-6-0 Identification that is locked and sticky!

Some nice pictures, but does not work as a spotting guide for what generation...

you need pictures of the gear train, and really the underside...

Also all these pictures seem to be from the bachmann site, i.e. already available, and perhaps need permission to post on a personal web site.

The identification topic is to help owners identify the version/generation of drivetrain in order to help maintain and repair.

The pictures garnered from the bachmann web site do not do this... if there was more text desicribing the generation/version it might help, but still the picture lacks the critical information to help as a spotting guide.

Hi All 95 % of the photos are just screen grabs from the Bachmann Parts catalog and other Bachmann sources.  As Greg correctly states these are not helpful in chassis identification.  As can be seen in my chassis identification list, some versions are identified with variations not visible in a photo of the bottom plate of the loco. Any photo without specific written descriptions are virtually impossible to identify. I am too lazy to add photos to my chassis identification list,  If someone wants to send me photos of a 4-6-0 chassis and it can be linked to the narrative I will ask Bachmann to reopen it so I can add photos contributed that are useful for the purpose.

I started the chassis identification with Wade Colyer as we tried to build a database of all Bachmann Large Scale Locomotives and rolling stock.  We were largely successful and Wade eventually lost interest.  In the last  four years I have been lazy about adding new items that Bachmann is introducing, especially the reintroduced Aristocraft products. I am not an employee of Bachmann Industries, just an 85 year old Bachmann large scale railfan doing the historical info since no one else did, not even Bachmann.  I did the chassis identification list to help fellow modelers avoid buying older Bachmann Locomotives with early problems as Bachmann developed improvements. The version 5 chassis came out in late 1999 and has proved to be tough and reliable in the years since.  In most respects all the new versions since the introduction of the version five chassis are variations of it.

As most of you who know me, I am a guy who has just enjoyed helping other Bachmann Large scale fans when ever I can. One day you might notice that I have disappeared from the forum and wondered about it.  Most likely I will be up in the Big Rock Candy Mountain with my railroad brothers.  If there is someone who would like to take over the maintenance of the data bases, and the sets list database, as well as the chassis identification info please contact me in a private message.  There must be many of you out there who could do a better job than I can. I am just an old soldier who made things up as I went along and with the help of Wade Colyer. I became the official unofficial Bachamnn Large Scale historian over the years. I do appreciate the help from many Bachamnn Industries employees over the years. I only know  most Bachmann employees like  Inside Track by their Forum name not their real name. The Bach-man I do know and he was super helpful over the years.
