Hello. I ordered EZ Lube Conductive Oil to service my Bachmann locomotives. What areas of the locomotive do I need to lubricate for routine maintenance? Does this product differ from the Bachmann Light Oil?  Thank you for any and all replies.

Gears need a heavier lubricant than light oil, which will fly off of rapidly rotating worm gears and make a terrible mess inside your engine.  Various companies offer a light grease specifically for gears, shop around.

You didn't say if you had a steam engine or a diesel engine.  Every rod connection on a steam locomotive enjoys a small dot of light oil, and when I say dot, I mean about 10% of a pin point.  Use the point of a straight pin to apply that tiny dot. Believe me, you don't need any more, or it will run down the surface of your wheels and make a mess.

I don't have any diesels so someone else will have to advise you about them.

I also cannot tell you about the Bachmann oil products specifically but any light oil will work in appropriate locations for light oil as long as it's something it doesn't attack plastic.

Thank you for the information. I have all diesel locomotives.
