Trolley

I just set up my new Christmas trolley, and it leaves the building but doesn't come back!!  Yet if I push it a little bit towards the 'house' it will suddenly go to the house pause and go to the open end and stop, and not come back again!?  any suggestions?

Ours is a bit wonky like this too.

At first it was user error; I hadn't paid attention to the instructions and placed the last straight piece in the wrong position before the bump stop.

I thought maybe the online retailer had given us a secondhand repaired unit. Our trolley also had slight signs of usage underneath and an itemized contents list that didn't seem like it was from the manufacturer.
