I have a 4-6-2 pacific, HO scale, from the most recent run for the Atlanic Coast Line so the tender has a reverse light. I have a DC ready version and added a loksound v5 8 pin for sound. Before adding that, testing the train it appears its wired for the headlight and reverse light to be on at the same time, I'm assuming rule 17 lighting from the factory.

I tried playing around with functions with the ESU lokprogrammer and no matter what I do it seems to always keep both lights on. I would like, if possible, to have them separate. Headlight on in forward, reverse light when in reverse.

Is there a way to wire the headlights for that or is there a combination of functions I am missing?

Sounds like a question for an ESU forum or a call to that particular manufacturer.
