I know it probably won't happen, but would love to see Bachmann produce a 2-8-2 mikado in On30. Either the EBT or WP&Y Mikes specifically as they appear more generic or any of the D&RGW K class locomotives. I feel like these "Big" engines would breath fresh life into the On30 line. Yes, they aren't 30" prototypes, but neither was the 4-6-0. I believe the size and proportions of the 36" gauge prototypes attract a different crowd than the small, somewhat whimsical 30" locomotives.

A model of a United States Army Transportation Corps S118 Class would be great for this, as they were used all over the world and a few are still being used.
It would be one the very few Bachmann On30 locos that could be on a layout taking place essentially anywhere in the world after the start of WW2.

Yes! I specifically mentioned WP&Y, but those S118 class is what I really had in mind. I believe the former WP&Y 2-8-2s that now run at Tweetsie and Dollywood were S118 class engines. You are right, they were used all over the world and several survive today in preservation. Probably more importantly they have that classic well-proportioned look that I think a lot of modelers are longing for.

For any "kitbashers" who can't wait on Bachmann, the chassis from the Mantua 2-8-2, latest version, makes a good starting point to make your own.

If at first you don't succeed, throw it in the spare parts box.
