Hi,

i have an old G Scale Climax from Bachmann with damaged Gear boxes.
It is not possible to drive the shaft for the two-cylinder engine. the gears are slipping.
So i think it would be the best way to replace the whole gearbox.
Do you have the gear boxes as a spare part?
or at least the two gears that drive this shaft?
If not, is there anyone here who has recreated these gears for 3D printing?

Best regards

Peter

Parts used to have them but like all Bachman stuff, they don't make many parts (as the CEO has said they are not in the parts business) so by the time you know what you need, they are out. I have learned to proactively buy some parts just in case.  Some I may never use but have hoarded (per the wife) just in case.

HI This is the only part on the Bachmann site.  https://estore.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=69_627&products_id=8193
If you take out the gears and measure them per the NWSL guidelines they may be able to help. Try NWSL.com

Let us know it this works for you so we can help others.

My wife knows I hoard, nine large stackable drawers full of parts almost reaching the ceiling, but too often not the one I need. I only have some yoke parts for my Heisler, No gearbox tho.

Good luck with yours,

Hi,

thanks for your replies. I think I'll have to design the gears myself. It won't be easy with the bevel gear.
If i have a working one i will upload it to Thingiverse and let you know.

Peter,

if you check your private messages i have offer to Draw /print for you. i do not put offers like this in the public eye normally. i recently completed these shay universal Joint for another customer.

Hi,

sorry, did not receive a mail. Do you have a draw of that gear. I have a Resin printer with nylon like Resin, so that would work for me.

Peter,
Your messages are Here.(see Photo) I do not have the gears in question, you would need to send me the broken parts at a minimum or the whole truck. as such i print on a Form 4 with an ABS like resin and have several happy gear customers.

Maybe I'm going off the deep end, but wasn't this all originally Heisler?  Did the OP edit it all to say Climax?

Mickey, I believe Al is just saying he will need the old broken gears so he can reverse engineer them.  It does not matter what loco they come from, he can do what you send him.

Al is a 1:20.3 modeler and and retired CAD engineer.  Makes parts for folks, his email is [email protected] his old company address. As you can see from his examples,he does great work.

The main thing is you must send him the broken part. I was going to use him to make a truck part from a USA Trains passenger car, but in the end I found the part and did not need him. If I need something else I will use him.
