Bachmann 0-6-0 motor swap?

I have a Bachmann N scale 0-6-0 that I'm using for a HOn30 engine build. According to Spookshow, this is the mid 80's model. My question is, are the newer motors from the split frame versions able to be swapped in the old single piece frames?
