Thanks again Len and Jward for help with my shorting out, it was the infamous "reverse loop".  Is it possible to have my trains go in opposite direction while avoiding the "reverse loop" Please advise

I'm assuming you are running 2-rail DC or DCC.
You need to electrically isolate (plastic rail joiners) that reverse loop.
There are electronic reverse loop control modules that automatic flip polarity when a train is detected.

Or you could simply feed power to the isolated loop through a double-pull double-throw (DPDT) switch.

Have fun !!
I may not be good, but I'm slow.

Unfortunately there is no way to turn a train around so it traverses the same track in the opposite direction without adding a reversing section. This section must have insulators on both rails at each end, for a total of 4 insulated joints. This electrically isolates the section from the rest of the layout. You must then have a way of reversing the polarity of this section independently from the rest of the layout. The polarity of this section must match that of the rest of the layout to enter the section, then then polarity of the main layout must be reversed while your train is in the reversing section so the polarity matches when the train leaves the section.

How you approach this problem depends on the context. Are you running DC or DCC? Autoreversers only work on DCC. Is there more than one way into the reversing section? If there is only one way, you can wire the section through a Snap Relay wired in parallel with your switch motor. Or you could use the DPDT switch wired to the track in the reversing section.

I'm sure this is all confusing to a beginner. The links below show how to solve the problem.
