I have a chance to buy a vintage Mike, but the owner doesn't know the minimum radius the engine will negotiate.

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks,

D.K.

I'm not trying to be a smart alec, Ram, but this is the BACHMANN
site! Why would I ask the BACHMANN about another brand?

Yes. it is a Bachman engine.  I should have realized other brands are
discussed here? Sorry.

there have been so many business acquisitions and mergers, it is hard to keep up who made what. In response to the original question, i think it will be ok to run it on an 18 r track but run it slowly around the bend, lest the beast tips over.

If this is the 2-8-2 I think it is (based on vintage) - Vanderbuilt (round) tender, it will take 18" radius with no problem. HOWEVER - they were horrible runners.  They were also made with two types of motors (neither that great).  I am thinking these are the same engine as the Reading I-10 type with just the trailing truck added & with a different tender.  A photo would definitely help.  Bowser makes a re-motor kit (craftsman type) but I pulled the motors & made static dummies out of mine.  Hope this helps.

YES SIR,

That's the kind of info I was looking for.  Received the same advice
on another forum.  Look's like I'll pass!

Thanks,
