I just found my childhood big hauler and wanted to get it working for the kids.  It's probably from the late 80's and works with 6D batteries on plastic track.  I appear to be missing one piece of curved track and the remote control for this.

Is there anywhere to get replacement parts?
Is it worth it, or are these a dime a dozen at toys r us?

Please excuse my ignorance, I don't know anything about these.

Tim,
They have been out of production for quite some time. However, you can still find the track on Ebay, most likely the remote as well, it's just hit or miss.
Just as a suggestion, pick up one of the Bachmann starter sets. These come with the newest version of the drive train, the track, several cars, and the power pack. Just remember, if you ever plan on taking your trains outdoors, the Bachmann track is ONLY for indoor use, it WILL rust!

eBay is about the only place you can find the remotes these days. There are two different flavors - 27 and 49 mHz. Be sure to get the right one. Shoot me an email and I can send you a piece for shipping costs. I have lots of extra curves. I use the straights for storage track.
