Greetings from Maine.  Santa brought the Acela train set.  At first attempt the engine does not have power, although the coaches have lights.  Wondering if it has to do the the selection of rail vs pantograph system. Is there an internal switch as stated on the box?  If so where is it?  Any thoughts?

Mike

On the top of the engine is a small rectangular flat "box  lid". Lift it off with your fingernail. The switch is underneath it. Happy railroading- Mike

The switch to change from rail or overhead is located at the rear of the loco under the housing behind the pantograph. Hope this helps.  Dave  :)

Dear busguy187, Mike, and JP,

Thank you so much for posting this note!! We bought the Acela for our 7 year old, who is a major railfan.  We spent the afternoon putting it together and could get the coaches to light up, but could not get any power to the engine.

After he went to bed, I checked this site and then found this thread.  Tomorrow will be better than Christmas morning for my little guy!!!

Thanks so much for posting!!
