hi, can anyone tell me where i can buy just the gear on the drive wheels of the 2-8-0? Bachmann does not sell the gear but the whole drive assembly for 18 bucks plus shipping. If there is a cheaper solution some words of wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi djp,
Considering the work and frustration in changing the driver gear, obtaining the complete chassis/drive assemby sounds like a pretty good deal. You could use the old assembly for spare parts.

In case you don't have it, here is the parts diagram.

Just my thoughts.

Thinking about what you said sounds good. Thanks Bob. You just convinced me.

If I'm not mistaken, Northwest Shortline makes replacement gears for this loco.  I know it's a job to replace them, but if you go with NWSL it will run better & you won't have to do it again next year.   Jerry
