I have a few Walthers Passenger Cars, that many may know only run on 24+" radii, and I was wondering if they would work on a #5 turnout, if not a #6 turnout.

Here's a neat web site with some useful information that I think will help you out.  Basically, they say that a no. 5 turnout has roughly the same effect on equipment as a 26" radius curve.

Hope this helps.  I've got some of those cars myself and I love 'em.

Thanks I will  keep that in mind, I got tired of the $40.00 observation coming right off the tracks at the turnout.

That was a good useful link rusty . I had alot of problems with my #5 turnouts . Being humped near the frog , and coming loose from the road bed . Also  some of the couplers on my rolling stock needed gauged . As they needed shimmed straight or the hoses needed adjusted to correct height "per the gauge" Kadee .

So on a straight main line the type of switch #5 #6  R-18 standard shouldn't make a difference . As long as you keep the s out of the transition .
