Its real alright. Its on the 1st page of the Train Sets folder in the HO products page. I check it every day to see if theres anything new. Its MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) is $93, but I bet modeltrainstuff.com will have it soon for maybe about 70 or $80. Just a guess.

Jim Banner

$46.60 or $47.50??

Not that it makes much difference.  These are prices that we in Canada can only drool over.

While I normally model Canadian roads, I must say that is one sharp looking locomotive.  Does anyone know if it ran with ditch lights or were they added during restoration?

Jim
Growing older is mandatory but growing up is optional.

Jim

The ditch lights were added during restoration.
They are required equipment.

regarding the ns f7 quartet......

jim you seem to be assuming that these came to ns by way of its predecessor southern railway. understandable since the current ns paint job they wear is based upon the old southern freight scheme. i wish all ns units looked so good.....

the 2 a units, 4270 and 4271, were bought by ns from a dinner train operator. they were originally b&o units, later rebuilt for commuter service under marc in maryland. i believe marc added the ditch lights. as rebuilt for marc service, they also had a big boxy anticlimber, which ns forces removed in favour of the units original appearance. ns considers them f9s, but they have the f7 body.

the 2 b units, 4275 and 4276, were originally chicage great western, and also served in commuter service under c&nw out of chicago. they were also purchased from the same dinner train operator and rebuilt by ns. ns considers them to be f7s.
all 4 are based out of altoona, pa with the executive train, and can often be seen hanging around the juniata shop complex when not in use.
