The Bachmann DCC auto reverser will work with any DCC equipped locomotive that will run on the E-Z Command without an external booster.  To do this, it has to trip at 1-1/2 amps or less.  Is it adjustable to allow for the higher currents that multi-motor large scale locomotives draw?  I don't know.  The specifications at http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/dwg/index.php?opt=1 (http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/dwg/index.php?opt=1)   don't say.  The Digitrax AR1 DCC reverser is adjustable from .25 amp to 8 amps and is available.

If you want to reverse a dc locomotive to make it go back and forth on a straight track, you can use a DCC reverser.  But if you want automatic polarity reversal when a train goes around a return loop, then something like the LGB system would be a good choice, if it is still being produced.
