Thomas & Friends / Re: 2012: Your Predictions
January 31, 2012, 10:24:48 PM
My predictions would have to go for

1. Duck: He's on incredible high demand, especially with Hornby's model discontinued, and we need the gap between Toby and Donald filled.

2. Oliver: Another one on high demand. He will provide #11 and also would go good with Duck.

3. BoCo or Daisy: Both of these diesels are on high demand as well, and they have simplistic shapes, making them easy to make.

Well, this isn't exactly a series, but it's a good tackle at it. A redub of A Bad Day for Sir Handel! Tell me what you guys think.

Here is my near-perfect rendition of the Runaway Theme used in Percy Runs Away. I'd post videos of my series if I had any models.

Heck, I am planning on creating an account for anything relating to Thomas & Friends. Just to keep my stuff a little more organized.

Shoot. My account isn't really relevant to Thomas & Friends, but I do have one, regardless.

Thomas & Friends / Upgrading your older engines.
January 09, 2012, 10:19:38 PM
Hello Bachmann. Since this is the tenth year of your Thomas and Friends range, you should consider doing something big with the older models in your range. And when looking at say..... Diesel compared to Thomas, the two look as if their from different companies. Definitely give the older models all the new hooks and buffers like used on the Scottish Twins and Diesel (Which I will call tidbits). I'll give a good list on what's extra to do.

Thomas: He was Bachmann's first model, and a near perfect one. Along with the new tidbits, I suggest only giving him a front coupler, and giving him a new face.

Percy: Here's one big one. Percy needs the new tidbits, a front coupler, a new face, a hook and brake pipe on the back side, placing the cab footsteps underneath the footplate instead of on the side, and making the coal bunker smaller, and in black.

James: Your licenser is giving you different information on your G Scale James compared to your HO on. Ever noticed that? He needs his typical tidbits, a front coupler, a new face, black paint on his wheels and the section of the smoke box, red paint on the back of his tender, and opening the cab up just a little bit. (At least making the windows see-through.

Henry: Not too big, but still needs retooling. Give Henry the tidbits, black lamp irons, and make the tender taller. (To where it is up to his cab roof)

Gordon: A much easier one. Just give him the typical tidbits and black lamp irons.

Toby: Give him the new tidbits.

I hope you will take notice to these as us modelers want accurate looking models. The look of some of these older models are making us want to go for the incredibly expensive Hornby products. And this is also a good way to bring in money, as people will go out and buy the update versions of these models to replace their old ones. Please, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thomas & Friends / Re: Cab details

Actually, I think that separate sections were used for an inside view of the cab in the TV series. Think of it, there needs to be room in the body shell for the motor and eye mechanism. The cabs on the real models might have been open, but not detailed.

Sparks-

If the engine was to large to go in a 4ft circle, the engine could not be used with Bachmann's 4ft curves. If the engine is say 4ft long, you are not going to get it on the 4ft curve. I am comparing the size of Gordon/Henry to the size of an AristoCraft Pacific or Bachmann K-27. Neither of those engines can run on 4 ft curves. I think their minimun radius is 6ft, possibly 8ft. If Bachmann wants all of their Thomas engines to run on their track and they think makeing Gordon and Henry is in the future, they have to make bigger track, or shrink the sizes of the engines down to  Bachmann 4-6-0 Annie. If Bachmann has larger curves than 4fters, I think they would be next in line, but since Bachman only has 4ft curves, I really don't see it a practical option. People who are new to the world of Large Scale trains and garden railroading won't catch that the larger engines won't fit on the 4ft curves. When I first started up again, I knew very little about the curves and which are best to use for what engine. I have a lot of 4ft curves and a dozen 4ft curves, my tank engines and smaller diesels look fine on them, but my Annies look a little akward going around the 4ft sections.

Chruchhill8F-

Have you ever seen a Bachmann K-27 or AristoCraft Pacific in person? They are very large engines, I could barely carry them they were so heavy and large. All in all they are about 3-4ft (looking back, 5ft was a little too large, they would be just about a foot shorter than I) long when put together and weigh quite a lot. They would be the size of Gordon/Henry. Gordon/Henry would not weight that much, but they would still be that long. Kids are good with smaller engines, not big engines, the size of Gordon and Henry.

LGB already makes coaches very similar to Emily's and have 3 axles. It has pretty much been done before, a long time berfore, Emily's coaches appeared in the Large Scale world. I'm not saying Bahcmann ripped of LGB, but 3 axle cars have been released before by other bands and have worked with little or no problems.

Actually, Bachmann now make curves larger than 4'. However, this track is made with brass rails. I think that we could see Gordon and Henry soon thanks to Backmann's newer track.

Not sure how it would work with the moving eyes. Not to mention the moving claw. But perhaps if Diesel 10 is made, it will certainly surprise us.

'Arry and Bert need more than new faces and paint to be made from their diesel model. Let's not forget, they don't have ladders on the sides of their fronts.

Yes, but I'd rather have the products made without needs of modification. Not to mention that things tend to be overpriced in a different country.
I understand - but First: I was referring to Bachmann's ability to easily make the modification. That's what they've done with the wagons. Second: There is a part of this hobby you might enjoy exploring - actually building something.

Well, in good time, I will explore the realm with repainting James' smoke box, wheels, and tender in their proper colors, and making Henry's Tender the right size. (Maybe even going for old shape Henry)

We have a signal box already though. And besides, we might expect a lot this year, giving it's the tenth anniversary of the Bachmann Thomas Range. As I said earlier though, Bachmann has only done engines from the classic series. (Season s 1-7)

Actually, there is one issue that nobody seems to notice. The back slope on James' Tender is Black instead of Red.

Well, I won't really expect Rosie or Stanley, as so far, Bachmann has only produced engines from Seasons 1-7. I do greatly expect Duck, and Oliver and Toad are likely for being Great Western, also adding on to their high demand. I really wish Bachmann would bring back the Red Express Coaches. I don't understand why they were discontinued.
