Hi Terry,

Not to rag no one but when most of those other companies are mentioned most are asking for help and not advertising new products or showing kitbashes ect. Not Advertising new models with prices and links to other manufactors websites.

General Discussion / Re: rails on bridges

Hi Gene,

Your welcome and Sheldon is right on some lines the rail on the bridges were the same as on ballast. But the IC liked heaver rail on most long bridges and used smaller guard rails. Our shortline is a former IC branch and when theylast reworked the bridges installed  heavier rail on them but most of the shorter ones they didn't.

 ;) Hi GN,

Got very lucky using the original box as a cradle I eased her over on her top and sanded the spot of the post smooth then took a small tap and drill and drilled a shallow hole and used a short piece of brass rod. #908 wont be pulling over 10 cars at a time thats what those 2-10-2s from Proto 2000 is for  ;D I will get a photo of 908 with her caboose and 2-10-2 as soon as I get some batteries for the camera. I haven't used it in so long or been shopping in so long I forgot I needed  them lol.

My traveling and walking all over a giant box store is over and to think I used to walk 5 miles a night  almost around a casino floor making sure the brass was polished to a T and listening to slot machines all night long. Why I havent been to a casino exept to eat since I left there LOL.

Hi GN,

Thanks for the ideas it broke off flush with the tender floor no stub. I thought of drilling it out but the plug for the wires is right above the pin location. And I dont want to damage those..

Any repair for me is tricky right now I got one good eye my right one is behind a patch waiting on laser surgery July 31st which will require something like over a 1,000 burns to fix. All I can say is thank goodness for insurance and morphine. Doctor said bring your dad and your most powerful pain meds as you will need both.

What does Lionel has to do with Bachmann and  O scale Lionel is still over priced for my budget.

Why I collect HO and Large scale and boxed my old Lionel up years ago.

Hi Gene,

Maybe I can help you out this time. For the all the times you gave me adice.

On our shortline all our Bridges had 110 pound rail and  most of the main was 90 pound on ballast. So I would use the lighter rail on a siding and the heavy rail on the bridge. Don't forget the guardrails.

 ;D Hi Gene,

I live in heart of Dixie Central Mississippi about 45 miles north of Vicksburg. Not to far off the old Yazoo and Mississippi Valley mainline to Yazoo City.Look on Google maps for Bentonia,MS you wont find much but thats where I  hang my hat. once was a booming sawmill town now the sawmill is gone and so is the siding my grandfather helped to build along with the 2nd Depot there after someone blew up the first one trying to rob the safe.

I got my first set when I  was 2 years old in 1977 A Tyco Chattanooga Choo Choo set still got the 2-8-0 now on display on the TV. Then for a few years had Lionel in the 1980s but during HS went back to HO in the 1990s in 1998 I helped on a shortline Railroad and owned a 1:1 scale fairmont M9 motorcar and derrick and had part ownership in a 1942 GE 45 ton Center cab. Now I am disabled and collect HO and LS and still got my Lionels safely stored in their boxes.

PS I got started railfanning at 6 months  old when my uncle grabbed me and placed me on a ICG SW9 switching  the yard in Jackson,MS in 1975.

:) Thanks so much Ray for the answer. They sure are gems of these beasts and they forced me off my lazy butt to finally replace the old 20+ year old Atlas LL mix of track on my little 4x8 double loop test layout still dreaming of a new house with about a 20x20 train  room so mom will quit fussing about all the boxes of Rolling stock and kits all over the house. She is threatening to sell my  coca-cola train by Athearn to my aunt who works for COKE. LOL!

;D Thanks that does get me into the ballpark, now that I think about it I don't think the IC had long haul tenders after all its riding on 2 axle trucks and I dont believe the IC had to  many spots that had long distances between water tanks.

Thanks
