HO / Re: Digitrax decoder on bachmann dynamics system

Thanks jward and Doneldon.  You both agree on the voltage.  That must be my problem with the 9-volt battery not producing enough energy.  I was hoping that was the simple answer.

Thank you both and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Thanks for the swift reply.  I am planning on operating the solenoid directly with DC.  I have experimented on a spare swith.  I just don't remember what voltage to use.  I have used a 9-volt battery to test the wiring but that doesn't seem to work.  Do I need more voltage?  I'm afraid to boost it for fear of burning it out.  I don't have an analog powerpack to test with.  Btw, I 've cut into the wiring between the decoder and the solenoid.

Any ideas on operating those DCC turnouts remotely, without DCC?

Janot, I have done exactly that and it works with one problem, the switch loses its address (either becasue I shut the system down or make some other change).  I use a Digitrax DCC system with the E-Z Track DCC Onboard turnouts.  Any experience on this or ideas on what's going wrong?

Don't know if it's too late, but I would not recommend glueing down the track.  I have a layout with about 180 feet of E-Z Track and I used small nails to hold the track in place.  I have had numerous reasons to lift the track and do slight adjustments or other changes.  The nails are easy to pry out with a screw driver, glue would be nearly impossible.  I also found that E-Z Track is horribly noisy.  I am in the process of lifting all 180 feet of track and installing cork under it to deaden the noise.

It seems that the DCC Onboard turnouts are not standard.  I have a Digitrax with E-Z Track layout and the turnouts keep losing their adress, requiring me to reprogram them just about every other time or so that I use the system.

Any ideas how to fix that?  Right now I've given up using dcc to throw the points, doing it manually.

Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) programming and controlling the E-Z Track DCC Onboard turnouts with a Digitrax DCC system?  I've done it but the problem is that the turnouts don't retain their address; I wind up having to reprogram them about every other time or so that I use the system.

Tech support at bot companies keep pointing the finger at the other company and are of zero help.

I have a slightly different but related problem.  I have a layout with about 12 DCC On Board turnouts and crossovers.  They don't work properly with my Digitrax DCC system (they refuse to remember their address and only work intermittently).  Tech support at both companies point fingers at the other company so I've given up trying to make it work.  What I want to do is wire the turnouts to a central console to control the layout.  I have a spare turnout that I experimented with and I thought I had it solved.  After a few months of not working on it, I now can't seem to make it work again.  I don't remember exactly how I got it to work.  Should have documented my findings    >:(

My question is, does anyone know what voltage pulse to send to the turnout solenoid?  I've tapped into the wiring between the DCC controler and the solenoid.  I've checked the grey, orange and brown leads for continuity and the ohm meter shows it as a short, as I expected.  So, the coils seem to be OK.

I would appreciate any help you may have on this.
