N / New 2-8-0 issue, Bachman please read
April 03, 2011, 06:30:26 PM
Hey guys, i got a 2-8-0 a few days ago and needless to say i was excited after all the hype about it. After putting it on the track, it didn't perform too well and made a low screeching noise so i assumed it needed breaking in. however, after a lengthy break in period of about 6 hours, performance still hasn't improved and the loco is making a regular clicking noise every revolution of the wheels. If the Bach man reads this, my question is should i seek the hobby shop for help or just contact bachmann about any suggestions or servicing the loco.
Thank You,
Eric

N / New to Model Railroading
January 30, 2011, 08:03:41 PM
Hey guys, I'm pretty new to model railroading and have just finished my first layout. Being my first layout, I made various mistakes and hope to rectify them with a new layout. First, how does atlas code 55 run versus peco code 55? Also, are peco code 55 turnouts compatible with atlas code 55 flex track? Finally, what book works the best as a general overview to creating a layout? Thanks for any input guys!

N / new 4-8-4 with some minor issues
January 21, 2011, 12:51:37 PM
Hey guys, I just got a new 4-8-4 and let me first say it is pretty awesome for a $100 loco. Runs great slow as well as fast, and it also can pull a good amount of cars. I am having a few issues that I cannot seem to solve, however. First, the front wheels of the pilot are not making contact with the ground, and this creates some stalls with the loco. Second, the loco keeps sparking around the copper pickup near the pilot and shorting out. Finally, the loco cannot handle any sort of turnout (even just goin straight through) and has trouble making it over a rerailer without stalling. Any solutions to these issues, and are they common with this model?

I am using atlas code 80 track if that makes any difference. Let me know if there is any other track that it may run better with, because i was thinking about getting kato unitrack in a few weeks. Any help is greatly appreciated.

N / Amtrak e60cp derail issue
January 05, 2011, 11:03:17 PM
Hey guys, i am trying to set up a small layout for two steam locos and an amtrak e60. I am using atlas code 80 track and am having problems with the switches. At every right turnout, the e60 works great when going straight through them. However, when it switches, the wheels appear to slip right through the catch and it derails every time. This is an old loco, so i am thinking maybe the wheels could be out of gauge somehow (it does, however do the left turnouts fine). I believe i have found the problem: the piece that attaches the switch track to the control is plastic and seems to be easy to bend. Any suggestions on a fix? Also, do peco insulfrogs have the same issue? Thanks for any help.

N / minimum curve radius
December 29, 2010, 12:54:26 AM
Hey guys, I am creating a layout for my room and am constricted by space. I recently acquiered a used 4-8-4 northern from a friend, and I have a 2-8-0 consolidation that is pretty new. What is the absolute minimum curve radius I can use to make both locomotives run without derailing frequently?

HO / how to fix pantograph for Spectrum Acela
December 26, 2010, 07:05:09 PM
Hey guys, I'm kinda new here. I was just wondering if anybody knows how to replace the pantographs on the acela as one of them is missing the clip to keep them down. I ordered the ones from bachmann's website and there are no instructions on how to install. It appears that they are screwed in internally, but I cannot figure out how to open the body. Thanks for any help
