Title: powering an auto reverser
Post by: dagnarble on October 05, 2010, 02:56:05 PM

Just about ready to switch to DCC. I bought a Digitrax Auto Rev that is for DCC so I know I have the right one. Does it draw all it's power from the rails and if so will I need to increase my power unit to compensate? Thanks

It does, you should be fine with most advanced systems, you may not have enough juice if you have an E-Z Command, but it all depends on how many locos you are running and how much they are drawing.

We have two reverser's at our club layout.
We just followed instructions that came with the reverser's and they work fine.
Both together, draw about 160 ma total according to the DCC amp meter but we have a 5 amp system so it is a moot point for our layout.

If you have lost the instructions that came with your Digitrax AR1 auto reverser, they can be found on line at:

dag-

These things are so easy to wire you'll think you must have done something wrong when you are finished in five minutes.  You didn't.  It's just a quick and easy task.
