Title: Couplers
Post by: Norm917 on May 04, 2016, 11:31:07 AM
I found Bachmann cars in an antique store. When I brought them home , the couplers would not mate with my newer cars. The trucks are pop-in rather than screw in, but there is a screw on the coupler. Is there some way I can update the couplers?
Thanks.

Thanks, Len
Now all I have to do is find a tiny piece of 3/32 tubing and I can get the rewards of my great find.

have you tried the local hobby shop for tubing? usually they will have brass tubing by k&s or plastic tubing by plastruct.

Evergreen has a 6 pack of 3/32" (0.093") styrene tubing 24" long and Plastruct has a 10 pack 15" long.

Instead of the tubing you can trim the (similar to the tubing) piece from a spare Kadee coupler pocket to get the shaft enlargement piece.

You ought to buy a few pair of Kadee couplers for  future use.  The coupler pockets to trim  the piece out of are included. Most of them never get used, but these of course will.
