HO / Bachmann Santa Fe 4-8-4
January 05, 2012, 10:29:02 AM
This loco runs exactly 2/3 of the way around my 8x8 layout and stops in exactly the same place each time (on a straight track, not a curve). It still has power (headlight works) and a gentle push gets her rolling again but she stops at the same place each time. I have run a Niagara, UP FEF, and SP GS-4 on the same tracks with no problems. I have also tested her operation on a roller track and she runs flawlessly. What do you think is the problem?

HO / repaintinp passenger cars
February 21, 2011, 02:16:42 PM
I recently acquired quite a few (19) Bachmann HO full dome passenger cars made for Hawthorne Village and painted in some pretty flamboyant colors and characters
(Halloween, Indian, Navy). These seem to be good, well built items and run well on my layout. I would like to repaint them to look more like actual RR's but am not sure how to proceed without messing them up. Have any of you done this and if so, how?

HO / Acela couplers
February 17, 2011, 10:31:26 AM
Yesterday (2/16) I spent the better part of the afternoon attempting to replace a broken coupler on an Acela passenger car. I disassembled the car and removed the wheelset over the coupler. It still isn't reassembled
because I'm having a hard time getting the "teeny" spring attached.  At the risk of being called a whiner I think whoever designed these"@#$%^& "  couplers should be forced to repair them for the rest of eternity.

HO / bachmann turnouts
January 22, 2011, 06:28:51 PM
I've built an 8x8 double track layout. It's all ez track with Bachmann turnouts. Problem-Many of my locomotives tend to derail on the turnouts. This is particularly true of steamers with pilot trucks. I have standard remote turnouts, #5 turnouts and a #6 crossover turnout. Why can't a copmpany as big as Bachmann build a turnout that doesn't require filing and fiddling? About half my "fleet"are Bachmann and the rest mostly Rivarossi and Mantua, but they will all derial on the turnouts.

HO / Bachmann #6 crossover switch
January 12, 2011, 12:06:47 PM
I have an 8x8 layout with two independently powered track sets. I installed a #6 crossover switch to connect the two tracks sets. Now they are powered together. I want to separate them but keep the crossover switch. If I make a fine cut in the switch tracks so that electricity will not pass, will I be able to power the two track sets independently again?

HO / Bachmann 2-6-2 Prairie Loco
January 07, 2011, 07:48:10 PM
I have an older 2-6-2 with a bad gear set. The power is delivered to the rearmost set of drive wheels, not the center set as in the newer 2-6-2. The plastic gear spins freely and will not drive the wheels. Does Bachmann have a fix for this problem?

HO / Acela Couplers
April 16, 2009, 06:17:04 PM
A while ago I asked if anyone knew how to dismantle an Acela passenger car in order to repair the coupler. It is impossible to do without removing the trucks. There is a spring and a ball joint involved. Anyone!

HO / Motor Problem
March 30, 2009, 02:18:48 PM
The motor in my Bachmann UP 4-8-4 died yesterday. The loco was running fine when suddenly it started whining, smoking and stopped dead. I removed the shell and tried to resuscitate the motor-but no luck. It's gone. Do any of you have a spare motor which I can buy?  The loco is #809 and the motor is a small enclosed plastic unit above the rearmost drivers. Any help wopuld be appreciated-I really like this loco.

HO / Rivarossi Cab Forward
February 01, 2009, 05:29:25 PM
I am having a problem with my Ebay Riv CF. She runs just fine forward and reverse as long as both driver sets are straight, but can't go around a curve (22" radius ez track)at all. She stops as soon as her front drivers hit the curve. Is the front set of drivers supposed to swivel or are they supposed to be fixed and only the rear set swivel?. Anyone had a similar problem?

HO / Lionel GS4
January 30, 2009, 12:30:36 AM
The Lionel GS4 Daylight looks identical to the Bachmann model-is it a rebadged Bachmann product?

General Discussion / Crest train engineer
January 29, 2009, 10:43:12 PM
Has anyone used the Crest train engineer wireless system? If so, how well does it work?
I have a 8x8 HO DC layout. No DCC at this time , but a wireless walk-around controller looks pretty neat.

January 27, 2009, 01:35:44 PM
I need an HO Daylight tender to go with my GS4 loco-does anyone out there have one or know where I can find one?
