I'd say it's Chinese National Railway, look at the logo on the nose.  Looks like GE Loco either imported or built under licence.

WE HAVE A WINNER!

Stephen is correct.

The loco is No. 33 "Bembridge", an ex LSWR - ex SR class O2 0-4-4T shown here shunting at Newport on the Isle of Wight during the last summer of steam operation.

More photos of this loco can be seen at: -

No.

Not a "London and SouthHampton" T1, there was no such railway, but you are on the right track.

Yes, it is British Railways and no it's not ex Great Western Railway.

We need to know class and railway of origin and location in the UK.  General will do, specific if you're really good.

It's one of a series of photos I took during the summer of 1965.

There is only ONE speed record for steam, and that's held by "Mallard".  Period.

Everything else is just a p****** contest.
#2978
999's so called "record" is again an  unsubstanciated "record" based on times taken from train sheets, times that could be 'faked' by the agent or operator many minutes after the train passed where he'd write in a 'best guess' estimate of the train's passing time.

#2979
A record is something that is documented with accurate pass-times and or dynomometer car readings.

A locomotive engineer claiming to have hit warp speed is not a "record", neither are timings taken from train sheets or other information recorded after a train has passed as these could be "faked" by an agent who maybe didn't write them down for many minutes after the train had passed and therefore made a "best guess" at the time the train went past.

Mallard's record was 'official' because it was timed by numerous people on-board the train, something that wasn't done on any of the other American or European claims.  They are just hearsay.

What is a "normal Acela" engine?

If it's a diesel, why would you want a put on a pantograph?  Diesels don't have pantographs!

Gene.  I'd be interested in an everyday, run of the mill VT&P car.  I'm not into collecting "special" cars but an everyday car boxcar red kinda car would be fine.

Private road name?

Just take a look at my website Gene.  There are dozens of cars lettered for the Great Eastern.

HO / Re: Bachmann should have more Canadian stuff

Jim Banner.

Neither of the two photos of "CPR" models you showed in Canadian colours are accurate Canadian models.

They are just American models painted in Canadian colours.  That's a big difference.

What we are asking for is accurate Canadian models, not more models of American prototypes painted in Canadian colours.

HO / Re: vanderbilt tender?

Dunno what a 89902 is, should write the product description if you want the group to assist.  e.g.  "un-dec Vanderbilt oil tender".

Anyway, any tender will go behind any loco.

However, what you probably have to do is to remove the circuit board from the 2-8-0 tender and install it into whatever new tender you decide to use.

While tenders are swapable, sadly Bachmann in their wisdom decided to make the circuit boards and plugs different.

We, the users of this board, feel; that is because Bachmann management see the locos as "Toy Trains" and not as models and they did not even think that people would want to swap tenders on their "Toy Trains".

Hopefully, in furture production runs, Bachmann will standardise on one circuit board and one set of plugs so that all tender and all locos can be freely swapped.
