Post by: westsidelumber12 on March 04, 2008, 11:52:44 AM
Has anyone seen one of these before? I saw one on ebay and didn't notice who owned the engine till i looked it up again. Does anyone have any info about the real thing or the rivarossi one?

The real thing was a
Santa Fe 4-6-4 3460.  84 inch drives.  The Rivarosse is a NYC 4-6-4 painted blue.  It looks nothing like the real thing other than the color.  They also had cars to match the locomotive.  The Santa Fe never had any cars to match the locomotive.

I had one back in the 70s. They were a notoriously bad running locomtive for some reason. The locomotives waddled down the track. The worst part was that they were just a modified NYC hudson model..

There have been some brass models of the Blue Goose. Expensive but factory painted.

The locomotive was built as the backup of the original Super Chief diesels in case they failed.
