I'm not good at this- so double check me- but you might need to get a different lighting system, the current system might just be programed like that. DOUBLE CHECK ME!

General Discussion / Re: Scale comparison
February 13, 2008, 05:37:17 PM
I read in Model Railroading magizine a measurement scale, you might find one- but fieromike had the exact answer. Fieromike, is there two types of HO? I heard there's HO2. Cause' Hot wheels cars are likely to be HO2 if HO2 exsits. Because hot wheels cars are somehow bigger then the 1:87 scale. Just Post it under this reply.

Dr. Trainman,

What I would do is buy cheap Atlas flex track and bend it at your angle, since E-Z track uses jointers, you can use regular track,  just buy some cheap or homemade railroad bed.
Homemade-
regular extra cheap rail bed that isn't worth anything
HO coal-or any kind of ground cover
and the track and nails-(duh)

First: cut and turn the railbed into your turn-if it won't bent-cut into BIG peices and put each one on a different angle= turn!

Second: cover the rail bed with the covering.

Third: place track over new beding. Note! if the railbed is too short-add covering to heigthen the size.

Fourth: connect rails using jointers.

Finally: fill in any gaps or sides of rails= perfect match.
NOTE!
make sure measurements are EXACT! ~Santa Fe buff~
Price- flextrack> about $3+$4+$3=only $10!
                                 HO coal^-^and railbed

HO / Re: Idle Locos on DCC
February 12, 2008, 10:24:27 PM
As Tim said, the rush of power will mess around with the system, but the motor will remain untouched. Just make sure that you have a powerful outlet!  ;)
~Santa Fe buff~ Oh, and if you have a yard (with freight cars too) you can buy a switcher like a Tonner! But that is just what I like to do with a yard! Have fun! ;D

HO / Re: Weathering a boxcar and locomotive
February 12, 2008, 10:15:14 PM
Here's something you can do with the weathered boxcar. You can clean half the boxcar and put some figures with paintbrushes on the side of the boxcar. It will look like they're restoring a old weathered boxcar.
P.S.
NICE WORK- did you use paint, dirt, or ground covering? Any tips you can spare?

HO / Re: Specific DCC question
February 12, 2008, 08:52:32 PM
DCC ready isn't my best topic, but I own two powered locos. with DCC ready. E-Z command has some cords- but I don't own one-I just heard that. But DCC makes the loco. at like a regular locomotive. I used a non-DCC loco. on a regular knob turn transformer I got with a Bachmann train kit, and I was able to make is go slow, but I wasn't able to go as slow. I guess it means that you can control your locomotive much easier- useful in model yards when your switching cars around. I'm newy too, but the advice I've learned was that you should find EVERY BIT of information. As for that sound loco. your buying, I depends on the brand or type of sound chip in there. You should talk to your hobby dealer about that, or if your online, you should be able to click on something that says "CONTACT US". You can call or e-mail them useing their info. I'm new- so check the stuff I said so you won't have any troulbe. ~Santa Fe buff~ "trying" to help people with model trains- I hope that's what I'm doing. have fun with it.   :)

HO / Re: I was wondeirng........

I don't know how they run, but I heard they run like regular DCC engines. DCC is fun-it's like a real train slowly taking off. But I don't have DCC on board, I'll look into it, but for now- I guess they run as if you were the engineer, after all, thats why they created DCC.
