HO / Re: Cab ride video thread
June 17, 2011, 09:10:29 PM
No cab is big enough for the camera for me. So, I got the next best thing. I'm going to do this again, but with a nicer camera...

...and tape.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctKGseQWYsA

First one is on top of a Bachmann SP Boxcar, the second is flatcar height. Neither shots have the camera mounted on anything or secured properly. The camera is just sitting there. The video is way back when I didn't do a lot of stuff, and when I wasn't the tech freak I am today. I look back seeing 1,000+ mistakes, but there's no mistake in the entertainment I got out of it.  ;)

Either that or a garage/yard sale.

Yeah, and I put some of their stuff on YouTube before realizing they still aired the show.

I have a couple PA's from an old Athearn run. You sure they aren't Athearn? If they are, I can help you with that.

HO / Re: Speed of the 80 ton Shay

What the darn thing makes up in speed, it can make up in pulling power! Sucker took a 20 car train up a 3 percent grade! Probably one of the best steamers I've seen for awhile.

I'll start to get nervous when the new Bach-Man starts to wink or wiggle that giant moustache. :)

If you don't drink too much Mountain Dew, that shouldn't happen.  ;D

General Discussion / Re: When to add a booster
September 19, 2010, 12:04:07 AM
I would say hold off on betting a booster until you notice a change in your locomotive's performance relating to power.

Even then, please consult us.

General Discussion / I'm back!

I never really left, I just decided to wonder off aimlessly.  :P

I love the new look! I already see new faces, and old ones.

Bring peoples up to speed, I hope to purchase my first FM H16-44 for N&W.

As long as the train doesn't lose brake due to a dis-connected air hose, I'll be fine to watch it.

General Discussion / Re: help identifying these

Concerning the MOW equipment:

The first car appears to be a ballast gondola, the second car appears to be a tie layer, the third car appears to have some unknown (by me) equipment.

HO / Re: E-Z Command DVD engines and cars

Ah, what a great little DVD it is! I have it. Saw it about 10 times. Just have a look around on the site's HO scale Products section to see what structures, electronics, locomotives, and rolling stock are still around. You will find a lot of train sets have some of the equipment not up for individual sale. I know how that is, although not a parent (I am only 14), but an uncle, I do know how it sounds when a 3-4 year old whines for things impossible.  :D At least, there is more hope in filling this request.  ;) Unlike my nephew's request of getting a full size steam locomotive! :) At least they can dream...

HO / Re: UP Bigboy

No, there isn't. You could buy a DCC-ready model and purchase your Digitrax decoder and install it. I suggest that you go for the Broadway-Limited Imports model if you can afford it. It is very nicely detailed. It's sound isn't too bad, if I'm right, it's QSI. I'm positive the decoder may work with a Digitrax system, but you'd might want to check that in. I'm remember there's a type of make the won't go well with Digitrax, but I can't place the name.

What I get, is that jackpat is asking if there is a new (as in not an old model made a while back) Big Boy with a Digitrax decoder installed in it from the factory.

I just thought of this, you might be able to see if anyone has a nice running Big Boy for sale with a Digitrax decoder installed. You know, buy one with your decoder make installed in it from another modeler. Or you could install a Digitrax decoder yourself. If your not good at installing decoders, give one of my friends Ryan a call:
http://www.dccinstalled.com/default.asp

Look at his website, and you'll see he does decoder installation services.  You have to get a quote to see how much it will cost to get it installed. I just posted the link to help him out because I feel to help promote his business a tad, but I would like to stress the consideration of learning to do it yourself. It's a great experience that can be sharpened and become useful. After all, if you can't install the decoders, why not learn how to?

Anyway, I'm sure you'll end up with what you want, or very close to it.

Joshua

General Discussion / I miss YampaBob...

I still remember him, and how he helped us all as a respected member of Bachmann... Even how he hates quotes.  :)

Anyone know of his whereabouts? How is he doing? I know he's too bad to use the computer. I hope it's not the worst... anyway, I made a video that I wanted to dedicate to him, and so I did.
