Title: Grade Crossings
Post by: Joe323 on November 20, 2013, 12:13:31 PM
I am not happy with Bachmanns grade crossings.  They are too steep and have that unrealistic pocket in the center whether or not the crossing is being used as a terminal or not.

It was suggested that I use a product called Durhams Water Putty to make my own crossings over standard track.

I am wondering if anyone has used this product and what it is like Seems like I can find it in Home Depot.

Joe

I have never used that product but while experimenting with the crossing I have used Squadrons modeling putty and had good results.
I have seen several different ways others have achieved the same look using plaster, styrene strips, just about anything that you can shape and then let dry.
I used a strip of styrene on the inside of the rails then removed when dry to keep a sufficient gap for the wheels to roll freely through the crossing.
