General Discussion / Bachmann 4-6-0 locomotive
May 09, 2012, 11:21:09 AM
I recently purchased a Bachmann 4-6-0 locomotive with DCC sound. Included in the box was a small package of what apppears to be coal or coal dust. My question is if anyone knows what this is for ? Additionally the locomotive came with chains that are to be installed on the sides of the tender. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to install the chains. The directions simply state to attach the rings to the hooks on the sides of the tender but I donn't know if the hooks on the tender have gaps that allow the rings to be attached.

HO / Bachmann 4-8-4 Northern track issues
February 10, 2012, 11:28:09 AM
I have a Bachmann 4-8-4- Northern DCC equipped. This locomotive is very sensitive to track irregularities in that it will derail easily. The locomotive is not yet a year old since purchased. We have run other 4-8-4 locomotives over the same track after my Bachmann derailed and those locomotives do not derail. Two issues that I suspect: No 1- The pilot wheels are very loose(Locomotive came that way) No-2 It would seem to me that there should be some up/down movement of the drivers even if very slight. Does anyone suggest a fix for this?

I have the American Flyer Silver Streak that I purchased with my paper route money when I was 12 years old. This set is almost 60 years old.

I recently purchased  a Bachmann HO FT-A and B unit which are both DCC equipped. I want to install a SoundTraxx Tsunami TSU GN1000 sound controller in either the A or B unit. I know that this sound unit is compatible with an Athearn Genesis FT diesel but not sure if it will work in the Bachmanns. The installation appears simple enough according to the installation video for the Athearn unit but since I am relatively new at this hobby help would be appreciated.

General Discussion / installation of MRC Sounder
April 16, 2011, 02:04:40 AM
I just had an MRC Sounder Steam Decoder #1665 installed in my DCC equipped 4-8-2 Santa Fe tender. I cannot get the engine to run but the sound is always present no matter which address is used. I have checked the connections between the tender and the engine and the connection is good. I have other DCC equipped trains running on the same layout and they run just fine. The power source is a Bachmann E-Z Command Control Center. The engine will opperate just fine on the layout that the installer has. What could possibly be wrong?

I recently purchased a Bachmann  HO Santa Fe 4-8-4 Northern steam locomotive that is DCC equipped. I want to replace the stanadard decoder with a SoundTraxx TSU1000 and Speaker/Baffle kit. This is my first venture into DCC models. Can someone explain the "how-to's" in simple lay terms.

I recently purchased my first DCC equipped locomotive an HO Santa Fe Northern 4-8-4. It is DCC equipped for lights and speed. I would like to install a sound decoder but have no idea how to obtain the decoder or install it.
