HO / Attaching EZ Track to foam board
May 13, 2015, 04:47:51 PM
I have read the posts on attaching HO EZ track to Styrofoam with the Lowes shure tape. My question is what width to use because the 1.44 does not seem to attach much of the track roadbed. Should I go to the 1.88 shure tape to grab more of the track roadbed?

Has anyone come up with a way to use Kadee electric uncouplers on Bachmann HO EZ track?

I was looking at the post from Wiley209 on a new layout but I can not view the photos. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for the info. I thought that the crossover was made for dc-so I will switch to the turnouts.

HO / Crossover options
March 27, 2015, 04:16:25 PM
I am planning my layout with Anyrail with Bachmann HO EZtrack. I am trying to decide how to do a crossover between two  parallel tracks as to use 1 remote crossover #44575 and 1 remote crossover  #44576 or to use 2 #44559 and 2 #44560 remote turnouts. I am using analog DC with two separate controllers for the loops. I would like to know where to isolate the various rails for the two controller operation for both options at the crossovers or turnouts and what is the better option to be more lifelike than the other. Still learning. With the #6 crossovers I have the minimum distance between two tracks.

Thanks for everyones input. I did not even think about attaching wires underneath such as for the bus cables and the possibility of something breaking through the foam. I will be going with the 1/4" plywood and the 2" foam. In my area I can only find tongue and groove pink board. Is there a part number for the 2" foam that is not tongue and groove and who makes it?

I am planning to build a HO layout that is 5' x 12' that is built with 1x4 pine framing with crossmembers. I have looked at various sites and videos and I would like to find out what are the pros and cons as to using just 2" foam on the framework or using 1/4 plywood with the 2" foam on top?

Thanks. I did it by each side in the area I want. Is there an easy way to build the footprint on the board and then drag the completed footprint into the area of the layout instead of putting all sides in one by one?

I have the bought version of the Anyrail program. As I design the track plan I would like to put the footprints of various structures into the plan that are not included in the libraries with the program. I am modeling in HO and would like to show inches in length and width so that I can place them between tracks and alongside tracks so I know how much room is needed for the final design.

I understand that the short piece is for attaching to the divergent side. I am trying to design my layout before purchasing any track with the anyrail program. I would like to know the length of that short section of the 5 & 6 so I could look in the library and put that piece into the plan if Bachmann sells that item as a stand alone product. Does that short piece make a certain radius comparable to the number of the turnout? Does it make the final result parallel to the main line? Thanks.

Thanks. So what is the length of those short sections, what are they accomplishing on both the 5 & 6 turnouts? Is there somewhere that I can find this info?

What is the length of the short sections of straight track if I purchase a #5 or #6 turnout and the reason for that short section?

General Discussion / Re: Cad layout program
January 23, 2015, 04:19:50 PM
Thanks for the advice. I used the free program and liked the way it worked on a simple rectangle of 5' x 10'. I purchased the full program and tried to make the layout as a L shaped layout with a 4' x 6' leg. I am having a problem how to input the added dimensions for the L so that the full layout size shows up on the screen. I downloaded the pdf instruction file but still can not figure it out. My second question is does anyone know of company that can convert 1980's Bowser steam locomotives and Rivarossi GG1 electrics to dcc since I am leaning that way for a new layout for my grandchildren?

Is there a cad program for Bachmann ez track to design a layout in a given space that will give you a parts list for the layout?
