Title: North Pole and Southern #12
Post by: 38spcl on February 25, 2021, 06:19:06 PM
Hello all!  I just came into possession of a Bachmann North Pole and Southern #12 engine and tender.  I love it!  Only thing is that I thought it was a smoker and it doesn't seem to be.  I am "new again" to the g scale hobby and am just wondering if anyone can tell me how I can know for sure if it's a smoker and, if it's not, if it can be converted.
Thanks in advance for any tips and info you can provide!

You could look in the Information page for your loco and maybe ask in the Large scale forum is those people do not look in this forum. I am not familiar with the loco.
I do know there is a smoke module for the HO locos.

If it is a smoker there will be an On/Off switch for the smoke unit under the smokebox door on the front of the loco.

Yeah. My bad. I forgot about the possibly of that switch. Len is very knowledgeable.

I don't know about 'knowledgeable'. More like too many years of running a train repair shop where too often the first words I heard from a customer were, "I bought this on eBay and it doesn't work."
