I have been trying to determine what TYPE of car SP 51187 (Bachman model) but
have been unable find it on any Southern Pacific equipment register or photo series.
The car as a white circle SP in the middle of the car with thick gray arrows pointing to that
circle from both ends of the car. There are 13 small holes near the bottom of both sides of
the car.
Also I have another very similar car (make unknown) also RED and with same description as above
SP 61249 but this one has has a running board on top.
Can anyone identify what type of car this is, its real length an what its purpose was in service
on the Southern Pacific?
Looks like a Pullman-Standard All-Door boxcar.
Research Southern Pacific (5270-C)

Found some of my old notes for All-Door Box Car,

scroll to 33-F-18
Prototype: Note this is Southern Railway drawing with builder being Pullman
Southern used the car mostly for lumber
Current Bachmann model
Southern Pacific #51188 - Evans All-Door Box Car
http://shop.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=258_324_327_353&products_id=4810
Based on this the Bachmann car builder is Evans Products not Pullman
I have not looked for info on that Builder's box cars or if Southern Pacific had/has All-Door type box car.
