Title: DCC-Equipped 2-8-4 Berkshire Steam Locomotive

I have a DCC equipped 2-8-4 steam locomotive and I want to make it have sound, what would be the decorder needed to do this?

This is what SoundTraxx recommends. Store the link in Favorites. Look around the site for a lot of info on sound.
Decoders come with full instrructions.

The decoder does not come with matching 8 pin connector for the tender. You have to buy the eight pin connector and solder the decoder wires to it.
Get a 8 pin to 9 pin adapter.  You would only have to solder two wires to the speaker.

If you rip out the PC board, you have to do a bunch of solder splicing with shrink wrap around each joint, plus include a 1 k resistor for an LED.
Not all like to do this.
Below, is an explanation on how to do this if you are not up to much soldering.
Store his link and take time to look arounf if you are new to DCC. He has a lot on DCC and DCC with sound.
