Title: Disconnecting the tender
Post by: Jay Newman on November 22, 2010, 03:21:11 PM
New to model railroading and I'm just finishing up my first layout in On30 - Started doing the bench work in March '10.  I also have my first loco - a 4-4-0 inside frame.  I have ordered a Tsunami Decoder and want to disconnect my tender from the loco to do the install.  Darndest thing is that I can not seem to get the connectors apart under the loco cab.  Connectors Pushed right on when I attached the tender when I first got it a few months ago.  Is there a secret to disconnecting the connectors?  Am I missing a tab some where?

Thanks.

Jay

There are little tabs on the connectors at that point of the arrow. The connectors can be removed but with great difficulty.

I always trim the tabs off with a sharp hobby knife or single edge razor blade. I learned my lesson after my first attempt at disconnection. They don't need the tab to stay connected.
