HO / Re: Woodland Scenics Scenic Cement

Okay, I will post results around Sunday night once the paint underneath the ballast completely dries and once the cement dries. I am currently using Atlas Code 83 track but I have a stock pile of Bachmann Ez-Track that I'm going to test on Sunday morning to see if it will work.

HO / Woodland Scenics Scenic Cement
January 07, 2011, 09:14:34 PM
I'm currently in the scenery/ballasting stage of building my model railroad and I recently bought some Woodland Scenics Scenic Cement for the first time ever. I was reading the back of the bottle and it said that when using around track you should apply with an eye dropper, well I figured that would take forever. Is it safe to spray it with a regular spray bottle then use an eraser or something like that to wipe off the scenic cement off the rails once it's dry?

Thanks,
Cody

HO / DCC & EZ- Command
December 14, 2010, 03:51:45 PM
I was reading a post on here by "New ChooChoo" during school earlier today about HO locomotives and DCC and it got me worrying about if what I intend to do will work:
I currently own the Bachmann EZ-Command system with Bachmann Spectrum DCC Equipped CSX C40-8W. In the near future I intend too buy an Athearn CSX SD40-2 #8888 which has "DCC Ready wiring harness installed" (Athearn product number: ATH95188).
I want to take out the current decoder in the Dash 8 and replace it with Tsunami TSU-AT1000 "Plug & Play Sound Decoder". The number for the SD40-2 is: 828041 and for the Dash 8 is: 828046. I also want to add speakers for each which is product number: 810113 which will both work with the Dash 8 and SD40-2.

Will all of this work with the EZ-Command? What else will I need to buy or need to know?

Thanks,
Cody

Thank you for your help, OldTimer. That website really helped a lot on finding the right decoder.

I found this one at a reasonable price compared to some other ones. Will it fit the Athearn SD40-2? I decided not to get the GP38-2 due to the fact that it does not come DCC ready.

Will that decoder work in the Athearn SD40-2 and Bachmann Spectrum C40-8W?

Thanks,

HO / Re: non-Bachmann HO scale Hopper...

Any HO scale car, locomotive, etc will work with anything else as long as the couplers will work. Just simply look at the picture of the car on the website and see if it looks very similiar or the same as the on one of the cars in your train set.

What decoders did you use?

Thank you for your reply, Simkon.
I was thinking today that since I have to replace the decoders in the Bachmann engines why not just buy Athearn engines without decoders but all you have to do is plug it in? I should have specified on my last post, the only engine I own currently is the Dash 8, I was only looking at the SD40-2 and the GP38-2 by Bachmann.
I'm looking at these engines from Athearn:
http://www.athearn.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=ATH89752    Ready to Run CSX GP40-2
http://www.athearn.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=ATH95165    Ready to Run CR SD40-2
http://www.athearn.com/Products/TechnicalSpecs.aspx?ProdID=ATH95218   Ready to Run CSX SD40-2
NOTE: I'm only going to but one SD40-2, just not sure which one yet.

Will it be a good choice to fit sound in these locomotives?
Which decoders should I buy?

Thanks,
Cody

HO / EZ-Command & Sound

I have the Bachmann EZ-Command DCC system as well as a Bachmann DCC-Equipped SD40-2, Bachmann DCC-Equipped GP38-2 and Bachmann Spectrum DCC-Equipped C40-8W. I would like to add sounds to my engines and I already assume that the current decoders do not have the sound function, am I correct?
Can the EZ-Command handle the sound function? If so, how?
And what decoder will work best for these engines? All I want out of the decoder is the headlights and sound and someday maybe operating ditch lights.

Thanks,
Cody

HO / Intermodal Well Cars
November 17, 2010, 08:21:57 PM
I am buying a 3 set of 53' Intermodal containers and am looking for well cars that can hold a 53' container. The only cars that I can find that have a length in the name are 69' and 89'.

http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/932-4301 Will this work to fit 53'? It says nothing about the length in the title or description.

Thanks,
Cody
