I bought this Anniversary Edition 4-6-0 Rio Grande Southern G Scale Steam Locomotive last month and I notice that the rear right won't lit. Busted bulb maybe or wiring/conn problem? 'not so sure. I appreciate any help on this small problem.
Thanks,
Ranron
Are you sure it is wired. I have seen some engines that have a dummy backup lamp on the tender. Just a suggestion.
Chuck
PS most only work when the engine is backing up. Have you tried it in both directions?
Hi. I own 4 Anniversary Edition Locos and not a single one of them came with the rear lamp wired. You could do it yourself by purchasing a 3-5 mm warm white LED bulb and the tender plug sold on Bachmanns parts site:
http://estore.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=66_69_671_148&products_id=5225
and do it yourself. I have a dummy Anniversary Edition(just a rolling shell: no motor, wiring, etc. ) and I wiredthe rear tender lamp on mine with a 5mm warm white LED bulb , a 9 volt battery, and a 9 volt battery snap cap. Looks pretty good when the dummy is being doubleheadded with one of my powered locos!
Anyway, I hope this was useful to you!
Later,
Andrew
Hi All,
All the Big Hauler 4-6-0's have a dummy rear headlight, except for woodburners which are not equipped with a rear headlight at all.
All Anniversary 4-6-0's equipped with a rear headlight have working rear headlights when bought new from a factory authorized dealer. They work only when the locomotive is moving to the rear. There is a wire on the front of the tender marked lights which must be plugged into the slot for it on the locomotive.

The dummy loco mentioned by RkyGriz was never meant to be sold at retail and was part of a Sam's Club Sales display for one of the Christmas sets sold there and had no operating parts. I can only conclude RkyGrz's 4-6-0's are not Anniversary 4-6-0's or were D&RG or are used with damaged rear headlights.
Loco Bill
Thanks for all the inputs guys. Stupid me, I think I snapped the wire when I pulled the rear light to re-orient it.
Ron
Glad you found the problem. Why did you want to reorient it? Was it pointed forward?
