I don't need the parts breakdown, I need the parts available to purchase, online, here,
http://estore.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=66_68&zenid=ghrk2ptj65kukahfma5cebr6f6

But I see what your saying, common parts across models. May be worth a look.

My buddy needs parts, his took a dive off the layout. I told him even it the parts were listed online it would most likely be cheaper to buy a new one. I haven't seen it yet or inspected the damage.

Any plans to make parts available for the "sound value" Alco 2-6-0 ?

If you are interested in watching a shay slowly be brought back to life, follow my link(s) below. The link is chapter 1, to the right you will see a chapter list, 1-3 at the moment

I am not involved in the refurb but this engine has family ties to me, plus I grew up about 300 yards from where this is taking place. The volunteers the are performing this found my blog and have been providing weekly updates.

Hope you enjoy, and there are many more updates to come.

Geared Steam,

No misinformation about the motor.  You cannot purchase it separately.  Why would you think I'd pay $55 to get a replacement motor?  For example, you can get a replacement K4 motor for $18.  If the $18 motor option was available for the Shay, that's what I would have done.  $55 is a steep price to pay for a replacement motor identical to the one that just failed.  By the way, I had already replaced the Shay gears twice due to splitting, so I decided just to cut my losses with the loco and move on.

Tom

A replacement motor is available.

Sounds like NP has his problem solved.

NP,  I have a 2 year old 3T Climax, runs like a dream, and I use the heck out of it. No gear issues whatsoever. Bachmann corrected the issue before they released the 3T version.

Also I noticed some misinformation here.

1) The 3 truck Climax and the two truck Climax gears are interchangeable. And are available online in the parts department.

http://estore.bachmanntrains.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=66_68_153

2) The motor for the 3 Truck Shay is available, (but with chassis) , in the parts dept.

Geared steam is now an affordable option available to modelers thanks to Bachmann.

You will have to cut off the plug on the decoder and solder the wires to the board.

I'm tickled that Hornby is re-releasing the 2 and 3T Heisler.  :)
I already have two, and don't need any more, but I'm still tickled.
Great running and pulling loco.

Remember, it is a Male thing. Hopefully you will out grow it. lol

http://www.wiringfordcc.com/locos.htm

If there are times you need a quick answer to a question, do a Google search. I did one for dcc wiring colors.

This way, you get links you can store in Favorites. The Male species are also forgetful. Ask any Women. lol
