HO / Re: EZ Command DCC question for new DCC owner

It sounds like a simple case of your connections still not connecting.  Try re-tracing the wires and connectors from the controller to the track - with an ohm meter if possible.  Or connect the controller to a spare piece of track & try your locos there one at a time.  You can try touching the wires from the controller to the pickup wheels of your locos, one on each side.

The only other thing that crosses my mind is both your locos and controller defaulted back to #3.  If you have changed numbers of your locos with your controller try running one at a time on #3.  If no joy then try other numbers.

Can you get a spark by shorting across the rails?  Or better yet, check for voltage on the screws of the controller and track?

What brand locos are they? (should make no difference)

Let the folks here know, someone may have 'been there & done that.'

I'm not understanding yet Gene.  I see Caboose advertised but no mention of electric power.  I believe you because these are Caboose pictured below, swiped from your photo:

Does Caboose make HO powered motors?  How are the above 3 turnouts 'switched' - manually or AC / DC powered?

Stolen info.

Features:
    * Molded of strong, self-lubricating black delrin.
    * External cam provides maximum life and travel.
    * Cam design provides lock on both ends of the throw from 10 degrees above horizontal to the extreme down position.
    * Direct connection to the turnout through a pin on the slide bar.
    * Detent to assist in holding the handle horizontal.

Additional info:
"The 200S series are internally sprung stands. Stainless steel springs take up the overtravel and maintain tension to hold the movable points agianst the stock rails of the turn out. These springs make the machines easy to mount to the turnout."

I have table top motors planned to switch my Atlas turnouts.

Thanks-
Rick

All that for cut grass.  Can you imagine not being able to smell the fresh cut and baled hay in clean air?  Yep, that has to be one of God's finest combinations.

Gene,

Tell me about your turnout setup and motors on South River Yard and Leesboro Depot - photo 35 of 37.  What brand turnouts and motors are you using?  Do you have your switch motors hidden below?

It looks dang nice.  Keep posting updates.

My gandy dancers found out there was work available back in China and took a freighter back home to be with their families.  Good cheap help is hard to find.

PD,

I'm starting to believe Bob starts his day with a bowl of razor blades instead of bran and prune juice.  The feller sure stays sharp.

I reckon each of us is wealthy beyond measure in our own particular way.  I pity the poor fool who thinks he isn't.  Lord knows I'm not talking trains here either.

I was impressed also, the tanker seemed to appear out of nowhere then whammo.  Bounced off like a fly hitting an elephant.  :D

According to the news link above one of the tankers was filled with "shock fluid."  Maybe that's why it bounced around so much.  :o

Hey Bob!  Tell these good people how much good hay sells for.  We had 10 ton of prarie hay (square bales) hauled and put in the barn for $3.00 a bale.  Alfalfa was untouchable.

The best part of hauling hay was finishing.

HO / Broadway EMD F7A/B - Antennae on Loco
July 06, 2009, 10:53:34 PM
I was browsing the Broadway website and ran across this F7 unit with an antennae.  What's is for?

I couldn't locate any photos of loco like it, PRR or other.

Hey Rick - How did you get your wife to allow you to hold the title 'Treasurer'?

Ray

No problem Ray, I've never been married.  I figure it's all part of God's great plan that I stay unmarried.  Although the conversation & comfort & complexities and ...(insert your thoughts here)... that comes with a woman is sorely missed at times.

I like Proto locos.  I have one steam DCC w/ sound - a 2-10-2.  I have 3 high hood DC diesels.  All are good running locos.  I have intentions of putting DCC in two of them - QSI if possible.  I like QSI's decoders with the magic wand to reset CVs to defaults, adjust volume, etc.

Is anyone still using their old brass track?  I plan on using mine, I have too much not to.

I would have had to shovel out my dawers after seeing that tank car headed my way.

Good job, thank RichG.

I knew the Code numbers referred to the height in 100ths of an inch but have been reading about layouts in this code and that code.  I don't have a quarrel with "political correctness in prototypical-ity" and those who strive for it.  At the show I went to last weekend I was rolling by a vendor while he was asking a guy, "what code track are you using?"

I have on hand 100 and 83. My 3' flex-track is 100 as is all my older Atlas.  The new Atlas in 83 including 10 #6 and #8 turnouts is 83. I don't want to be laughed at by all my friends for using 100 for siding of a 1930s coaling tower, water tank and sand tower because "they" said it was a no-no in some magazine.

PD, there ain't no code 69 track.  I was using that number hypermetahoricaly....or something.

Thanks for the input.

Rick
