Heisler.
When do we get a Heisler?
Ralph: Be patient. I read in the hobby press that Bachmann will now be announcing new releases quarterly, when they are close to be coming available. At that rate, expect the next announcement of new stuff around May.
Ralph-On30:
Ebnut may be right and it will be announced in May, but I'm just not sure which year ! Accordingly, I ordered two HO Heislers from Trainworld and am in the process of converting them to On30. I have an awful feeling that if I wait for Bachmann to release them, I'll still be waiting on my deathbed.
This is not a slam on Bachmann, it's just that there seems to be so much more demand for a 4-4-0 or a 4-6-0. They have to make what sells.
Patrick
One of the 3 truck Shays, built for the Braden Copper Co (2½ft)
could be a good seller. BCCo operated 10 2trk (42-2) & 6 3trk Shays
( 60-3). If I were to operate a Hesiler I would go the conversion route
myself. Off to LHS to measure up the Bachmann 3 trk Shay in HO for
a possible conversion for an 2½ft gauge 3trk Shay.
Ken
I would like a Heisler, i think a 4-4-0 would look to old for my liking. 4-6-0, maybe id buy one. :-\
Dear All,
I'll post announcements as cleared- nothing more I can do...
the Bach-man
Heisler, Heisler, Heisler we want a Heisler!
To the Bach-man,
Just to remind you.....we want a Heisler!!!!
The Kid
I hope Bachmann doesn't use this forum for market research. With a Shay and Climax already available, a Heisler would be pretty boring. We need something completely different. How about a 2-4-4-2 w/tender with sound?
Boring for who? Some of us really want a Heisler.
You can say that again. I want a Heisler. I love the "critters" that we have so far and a Heisler would complete the stable. With limited space for a layout, these "logging" type engines make for the perfect solution to tight radii and steep grades found on mining and logging roads. Boring? I think not. ;D
The Kid
Heisler boring?!?! Surely not!! I would love to see an On30 Heisler and I am willing to let Bachman come measure the one I run lol Too bad its standard gauge but hey its a Heisler,
This is Americas first V twin, the fastest of the loggers , not prone to derailments like the Shay. Yeah an all around good loco. Yes I am kinda partial to Heislers but they are truly an awesome machine and like posted GREAT on tight curves and steep grades.
Also its in all the other scales Bachman has. I just havent justified the Large scale one to my wife yet ;D She comes back with you already have a large scale Heisler :P
I have an old VHS tape of the Mt Rainier narrow gauge RR they have a Heisler, Shay and a Climax as well as other Loco's. I think all three of those models are Unique in there own aspect. I could see buying a Heisler ;D
Great video by "green frog" you should see it !
Mt. Rainier is not narrow gauge.
Yep, My first mistake of the year your right it is standard gauge ;)
Shay, Heisler & Climax nice combo any way :D
Wiseman Model Services has the old V&T Shops line, which includes conversions for the Rivarossi Heisler ans well as for the MDC Shay. gj
And dont forget MRSRR's WILLAIAMETTE!!!!!....... ;D
One thing i forgot to pass on www.mrsr.com That can tell you more on whats going on....... ;D
The Wilamette is a fairly large loco--3 trucks, similar in size to the HO Shay Bachmann makes--in fact, I think they were all standard gauge locos. Only 33 were built, two are within an hour radius of me.
The Wilamette was an improved version of the Shay, which led to Lima building the "Pacific Coast" model Shay. gj
Yes glenn, Thay all were standard gauge, All but 2 were 3 truck,And all but 2 were oil fired, AND best of all wilamatte's shop switcher was a SHAY!!!
theres a great book about the "willys" by one jim geutes???.. sorry apout the splling.....tiny. ;) ::)
Bump up to the lead WE STILL WANT THAT HEISLER!!!!
BTW Fathers day and 4th of july if your near Freeport Illinois come out and say to me and my Heisler I should be there both those days. Thanks and again we want a Heisler.
I'm not getting any younger so time is of the essence..
When pigs fly, twelfth of never, might be appropriate. Let's hope that is not the case.
Heisler, Heisler, Heisler! We want a Heisler.
Anybody out there listening.......please!

The Bach Man has several times indicated that they are aware of the interest in a Heisler for On30. He can not say more until an official announcement is made. No announcement of a new ON30 locomotive for 2007 has been made yet, but I expect that there is one coming. My guess is an announcement at the Narrow Gauge Convention, but that is only a guess. Will the next ON30 loco be a Heisler? - may be but may be not. A Heisler is my guess, but I have no inside information and I am often wrong.
On a related matter, there is still no official announcement of the pulpwood cars, even though they have actually arrived at some shops in the UK and I think Hong Kong.
Hamish
I thought Bachmann was going to announce new on30 in May?
Did I miss it?
Didn't happen?
Cheers,
Rich

I don't think that Bachmann ever promised new ON30 announcements in May. May was mentioned as announcements are now being made roughly each quarter, and thus, if there were to be some announcements, May was a likely time. Some Large Scale announcements were made, and there probably should have been an ON30 announcement, i.e. the pulpwood cars that have arrived in Britain but for some reason have not been officially announced. (The Bach Man has confirmed that they will be coming to the USA in summer).
Given that new ON30 locos seem to turn up just before Christmas, under the new policy (3 to 6 months ahead) an announcement of a loco would not be due for a little while yet, making the Narrow gauge convention a possibility.
This is at least how I see it, but who knows?
Hamish
I would guess now that the next announcement on new locos will occur either at the NMRA convention next month, or at the Narrow Gauge convention at the end of August. Unfortunately, I have it on fair authority that the next new loco will NOT be a Heisler. Can't say any more for now, though.
For all Hesler and Shay fans, you can see and ride behind one in central California at the Roaring Camp and Big Trees NG Railway in Felton, CA. They have a webpage. The have one Heisler and two Shays, a 2 truck and a 3 truck.
You can also be "Engineer for the Day" and ride in the cab and atually sit in the engineers seat and drive for a short while. I did this and it was a wonderful and unforgettable experience.

You can also ride behind Heisler #2 on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad from Garibaldi, Tillamook Co.
There is a great 29 minute long video movie with an easy download here -

Loads more on the same wonderful site, too, including many hours of SP&S #700 and Daylight 4449!

And don't forget Heisler No. 6, a big 3-truck job at Cass, WV. With the Shays and Heisler at Cass, plus the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley RR Climax just up the road, you can zone out on all of the "big three" logging locos in one day!
I just hope if they do make a heisler, that it is of comparable size to the 28 ton climax. If they decided to build a 60 ton 3 truck shay, I would be ok with that too :o
Heisler anyone? BUMPING to the top.
Yes I still want a Heisler in On30
???
? Heisler ?

Heisler.
When do we get a Heisler?
-----------------------------------------
Still Waiting.
Ralph, I learnrd a long time ago, that pestering people for a train aint going to make it come out any sooner. Trust me, I have been waiting a while for a 4-6-0 BACHMANN! Just look at my signiture at the bottom. I would like to see bachmann make a heisler.
Rock On & Live Strong

For the last several years Bachmann has produced ONE brand new item of motive power a year, not counting new liveries or sound versions of exisiting locomotives. The new item has generally been delivered around Christmas, e.g. the 4-4-0 this year, the Forney last year and so on. Thus I would expect the next new locomotive about this time next year. Under the current announcement policy that means an announcement 3 to 6 months before delivery, so an announcement at one of the summer conventions, such as the NMRA convention next year is likely. Unless they change what has become an established pattern an announcement before then seems unlikely.
Will the next ON30 be a Heisler? That would be my guess, but then I have been expecting a Heisler for the last couple of years at least.
Hamish
Right - that´s what all the folks seem to think: Isn´t it time to bring the Heisler for all the Loggers out there...? Just take the G-Scale for an example and there it is: A perfect Heisler.
Count on me - would buy one or two Heislers for my layout as well..
Happy Holidays!
Tom
Well im guessing that bachmann will only make things that people want. This forum is a very good market resurch for them. Last year there was quite a bit of intrest for a 4-4-0 so they made one. Judging the amount of posts here of people wanting Hieslers (including me) than there is quite a high chance of us getting one. ;D
Looks like that DEAD horse has been beat enough and then some. I believe Bachmann knows that the demand is there but maybe there is something we don't know ?
Bachmann makes so many different items in many scales that it probably just takes time.
Now how about a three truck Shay or Climax ? And since it's Christmas time, how about a ___ and a __ and a--- and a ---- etc etc..
Cheers, TOF
On30 Heisler please! The same one you make in Large Scale. Thank you!
Gitty up horse.. Oh ! it's dead !!!
Maybe wishing for a three truck Heisler will work ? Nah ! Same horse, different race..
Cheers, TOF
Dear All,
I'm sure at some point we'll a Heisler, but there are many other good choices as well. No matter what the next loco is, some will like it and some will wish for something else. Let me say this: the future for On30 is bright!
Have fun!
the Bach-man
Whats so its got headlights? :P
3 of us here in New Zealand were talking about Heislers just last night and were hoping like billy-o that the kind people at Bachman would be kind to us and make us an On30 Heisler or 2 each.
Mind you we would certainly be willing to share that wonderful experiance with the rest of the world as well........ ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Hint,,, hint !! The models are wanted here in New Zealand as well. We did have 7 of the real deal imported here and 3 are still preserved. One just down the road in fact.
