Title: Shay & Climax information
Post by: richG on February 27, 2009, 11:27:40 AM
I just copied the below from a Yahoo group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RPMclinics-RickBell/

We're getting there. First up is replacement gearing for the Bachmann HO
Shay and if the schedule holds I'll rebuild and test one within a couple
of weeks. Next on the list is the Climax; if the Shay solution works
then the Climax will get a similar fix. We're still trying to get caught
up with the Seattle backlog, so these newer projects are moving more
slowly than we'd like for the moment. We appreciate your patience.

Question: Does anyone know how many Climax engines Bachmann brought in?
Lee Riley won't say...

No recall.

The Climax and Shay engines produced by Bachmann seem to have a design deficiency with the gear assembly.

NWSL has been contacted and they are looking at possibly producing gear replacement parts for these engines.

Note, while there have been a number of owners of these engines complaining about the gear problem there have also been a number of owners who have had no problems with their Climax or Shay engine.
