Title: Help with paint removal...
Post by: IandOFan71 on September 13, 2007, 11:53:30 PM
Greetings all,
I'm in the process of stripping some shells and here is my situation. I'm using Castrol Super Clean but I'm not getting the results I expected. It doesn't seem to work well on factory paint. Now let me say that this stuff is remarkably fast at removing paint that has been applied by me but I have two shells that have been soaking for 36 hours and the factory paint is still holding strong. If there is anyone out there that uses this stuff and can help, I would greatly appreciate the advice.

Thanks in advance,

Tyler

If CSC has not done the job (with some scrubbing) in two hours it is not going to do it.

Time to consider  CHAMELEON (http://www.chameleonproductsonline.com/homepagewelcome.html)

My personal favorite paint stripper, for both plastic and resin bodies, has been plain old Easy-Off brand oven cleaner.

Get an old plastic container with a sealable lid......place body in it....cover with Easy-Off and let sit overnight.

Remember to wear gloves and do this in a well ventilated area.

See the thread "Pine-Sol" in the Plasticville board.

The Chemeleon web site says it takes 20 minutes.  Prices aren't bad, especially since the stuff can be reused.
